How to make a ringtone
Ringtones are usually 20–30 seconds long, so pick the most recognizable part of the song, such as the chorus. A short fade in and fade out stops the start and end from sounding abrupt when the ringtone repeats.
Save it as MP3, which most Android phones can use as a ringtone straight away. iPhones use their own ringtone format, so follow Apple’s instructions if you have one.
MP3 or WAV?
MP3 is small and plays everywhere. 128 kbps is fine for speech and ringtones, 192 kbps suits most music, and 320 kbps gives the best MP3 quality.
WAV is uncompressed, so files are much bigger. It’s the better choice if you plan to keep editing the clip in another app, such as Audacity or a video editor.

Is my audio uploaded?

How long should a ringtone be?

What do fade in and fade out do?
Fade in raises the volume gradually at the start of your clip, and fade out lowers it gently at the end. They stop the clip from starting or stopping abruptly, which sounds much nicer for ringtones and song intros.
Can I cut a clip from a podcast?
Yes. Drop the episode, select the part you want to share, and save it. 128 kbps MP3 is plenty for speech.
