Tips for accurate text recognition
OCR works best on clear, straight, well-lit text. Crop to just the text you need, make sure it isn’t blurry, and avoid photos taken at a steep angle. Screenshots give almost perfect results because the text is already sharp.
Choose the language the text is written in. For documents that mix a language with English, tick “Also English”. Handwriting is much harder to read than printed text, so results can vary.
How it stays private
The recognition engine runs inside your browser. The first time you use a language, its recognition model (a few megabytes) is downloaded and cached. Your image itself is never sent anywhere.

Is this OCR tool free?
Yes, completely free. There is no sign-up, no watermark, no daily limit and no premium plan.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The text recognition runs in your browser. Only the language model is downloaded the first time you use a language; your image never leaves your device.
Which languages are supported?
English, Sinhala, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Can it read handwriting?
It can read neat handwriting, but accuracy is much lower than for printed text.
