Which format should I convert to?

JPG is best for photos and works everywhere, but it doesn’t support transparency. PNG is lossless and keeps transparent backgrounds, which makes it right for logos, screenshots and graphics. WebP usually gives the smallest files and works in every modern browser, so it’s a good choice for websites.

ICO is the classic favicon format, the small icon shown in browser tabs. Start from a square image for the best result.

Good to know

When you convert an image with transparent areas to JPG, those areas are filled with white, or with a background color you choose. GIF files are converted from their first frame only, so animations become a still image.

SVG is a vector format, so converting it to PNG or JPG turns it into a regular image made of pixels. For iPhone photos there’s also a dedicated HEIC to JPG converter.

Are my images uploaded?

No. GrabKit processes your file with code that runs inside your own browser. The file is never sent to a server, so nobody (including us) can see it. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool keeps working.

How do I convert PNG to JPG?

Drop your PNG files, choose JPG and download. Any transparent parts get a white background, or another color you pick.

Can I make a favicon?

Yes. Choose ICO and GrabKit creates a favicon file containing several sizes from 16 to 256 pixels. Start from a square image for the best result.

Can I convert AVIF images?

Yes, if your browser can open AVIF files. Most current browsers can.

What happens to animated GIFs?

Only the first frame is converted, so the result is a still image.
