How to keep GIFs small
GIF is a very old image format, so animated GIFs get large quickly. For the best balance, keep clips under about 10 seconds, use a width of 480 pixels, and choose 10–12 frames per second. Speeding the clip up to 1.5× or 2× also cuts the number of frames.
If you need a long, high-quality clip, share it as a video instead. Compressing the video usually gives a much smaller file than a GIF of the same length.
